WHAT IS THE FRINGE?
A 12 day festival that is founded on the concept of offering 100% unjuried, 100% uncensored, 100% accessible theatre, music, dance, art and madness to all types and ages where 100% of the box office ticket sales go directly back to the artists within The Fringe.
The Orlando Fringe is the longest-running US Fringe festival.
What is the Fringe Mission?
The mission of the Orlando Fringe is to provide an accessible, affortable outlet that draws diverse elements of the community together and inspires creative excellence through the arts.
And I was their yesterday Saturday May 22, 2010. It was my first time visiting the festival and I was quite pleased with the outcomes. First of all it was hot and humid (Florida typical weather) walked around the Loch Haven Park where they had an area specially for vendors, food, merchandize and a small stage. Weekends is Kids Fringe so I brought with me my daughter and my mom. We enjoy listening to a Band that sing happy looneytones in a different way Funny too!. Then we walk to the Shakepeare Center to check out the Visual Arts. It was amazing to see such of variety of mediums and talents. It was crowded and we did alots of walking so make sure to bring your comfy walking shoes!
Ahh! the shows are rated by Categories of:
FAMILY Friendly G-rated
GENERAL AUDIENCE- All ages.
MATURE- warnings associated with it; Language, violence, adult themes, content, nudity, etc.
I'm planning to go this week to check out some show of interest such as: CREATIVE MIND EXPERIMENT, ELEMENTS OF CHANGE AND ODDLIE these are my favorites so far. If you happen to come by Orlando, FL see for yourself. The Fringe is not for everyone!!!
